Executive coaching
How we coach
Senior leaders face increasing complexity and benefit from a trusted partner who can help them make sense of difficult issues, challenge assumptions and translate insight into action.
We provide personalised, insight-driven executive coaching that connects individual development with organisational priorities. Our approach helps leaders build clarity about their role, strengthen judgement, improve relationships and increase their impact across the organisation.
Key focus areas include personal impact, decision-making, influencing stakeholders, leading change, navigating complexity and executing strategy.
Effective coaching draws on the leader’s own experience and supports reflection, insight and self-directed action. Unlike mentoring, which offers advice based on the mentor’s experience, coaching helps leaders develop their own understanding, make informed choices and take purposeful action.
Using a systems-psychodynamic method
Conventional executive coaching typically focuses on the individual leader - their goals, behaviour, performance and choices. Structured approaches such as GROW help clarify the goal, explore the current reality, generate options and agree actions.
Executive coaching using a systems-psychodynamic method goes further by examining the leader in the context of their role, key relationships and the wider organisation. It pays particular attention to recurring patterns, how authority is exercised, where responsibility sits, how people may become dependent on one another, and how organisational expectations and team dynamics may be shaping the issue.
It also explores the less visible emotional, relational and power dynamics that can influence judgement and behaviour, including what people avoid, how they react under pressure, the assumptions they may be making, and the roles they repeatedly take up.
The coach may test hypotheses and notice patterns emerging in the coaching conversation itself, helping the leader build a fuller understanding of what is driving the issue and consider different choices for action.
Role clarity & effectiveness
Coaching helps leaders understand their role as part of a complex, interconnected organisation. Roles shape decisions, boundaries, relationships and accountabilities. Leaders develop greater clarity to:
engage more effectively with others and make better decisions
align their role with organisational expectations and key relationships
understand where responsibility and decision-making authority sit
navigate formal and informal authority
energise those around them
recognise recurring patterns in how they respond to colleagues, teams and organisational pressure.
Role transitions such as promotions, new appointments or changes in scope can create uncertainty. Coaching helps leaders clarify expectations, establish role boundaries and build confidence in exercising their authority.
Changing habits & delivering on commitments
Coaching provides space to explore hidden assumptions or competing commitments that may limit performance.
Leaders are supported to experiment with new approaches, strengthen follow-through and achieve meaningful goals through deliberate practice between sessions. This helps translate insight into action and ensures coaching is directly linked to real organisational impact.
Practical methods
Our coaching is tailored to each leader’s goals, role and organisational context. Depending on the individual and assignment, practical methods may include:
Organisation role analysis
Stakeholder and relationship mapping
Strengths assessment
Role transition planning and acceleration
Immunity-to-change mapping
Career strategy
